A new era for all of us

Tonight at around 6.15pm, Andrew Burns was elected Group leader and I returned to being a back bencher.

Its not been an easy decision but it is, I am very sure, the right one for myself and for the Group.

Andrew will great for the Group. Just from how he spoke tonight I know he has a clear and focused vision of what the next 4 years will mean for all of us as a Group and how we can make sure we are best positioned for the election in 2012.

And what is even better is that we have not missed a step in the transition. Instead we have continued to make sure the SNP/Libdem mal-administration remain exposed for their incompetence and ineffectual leadership of the city. And despite my new job, I will play my part as fully as possible.

In reading your blog I find myself smacked in the face with your hypocrisy. You cannot seriously ask us to believe it is all the other party's fault (insert party of choice as is your leaning) when you, as a councillor, fail to represent your citizens and are happy to fob them off and leave them on the verge of a nervous breakdown because you refuse to solve an issue that should never even need a discussion.

Your council tells people they are legally entitled to force feed noise into other people's homes and you are all, no matter what party you are in, completely happy to leave people to rot.

Do something constructive and serve the community instead of indulging in this partisan self-righteous insulting clap-trap.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

I don't think that it is true to say that I have refused to solve an issue. i have tried to explain that there are, at present, limits to what we can do. i made an offer as to how we could progress this issue some time ago and I await your reply
