I never knew Baldrick was Lib/Dem hero

At the Policy and Resources committee tomorrow (read the agenda here) I will be asking for a quick and urgent report to be written about the fate of the Lismore Rugby Club project.

This is a Community Sports project that will give a permanent home to an Edinburgh community sports institution and provide high quality facilities to attract much more participation in sport. Its a project that's been worked on for a long time but at the last minute, in the manner of this administration grasping around for ideas, another "cunning plan" has emerged to build a a care home and a respite home for young people with disabilities on the site.

Both of these facilities are much needed but not only is this too much too late but it delay has jeopardised the £2.5m lottery grant that the club has obtained on the proviso that the project has begun by March 31st.

Sure ideas need to be looked at, but no matter how cunning the plan, there comes a point when decisions have to be made. This is not a concept that the present administration seem to grasp.

Hopefully however, my motion will get things sorted finally. Whats the betting they go for "no action". I will report back to you tomorrow.
